Spinal Decompression Therapy is a gentle non-surgical, non-chiropractic therapy to relieve back pain associated with spinal disc abnormalities such as bulging discs, herniated discs, prolapsed discs, and degenerative discs that "compress" the surrounding tissues, with nerves usually producing the most symptoms. Compressed disc can also restrict the flow of healing nutrients to the disc and surrounding tissues.
Other disc compression symptoms can include:
* Sciatica – pain of the buttock, leg, foot or toes
* Muscle spasms of the buttock, leg, foot or toes
* Numbness or tingling of the buttock, leg, foot or toes
* Weakness of the leg, foot or toes
* Increased or decreased urination or bowel movements
Spinal Decompression Treatment provides "decompression" of the disc through the use of a decompression table that gently applies a stretching motion to the targeted area of the spine. A controlled force which is applied in between periods of relaxation. This gently pulls the spine apart elongating it and creating a small vacuum between the vertebrae which pulls the disc back into shape.
Traditional treatments include surgery, steroid injections, physical therapy and chiropractic adjustments. Spinal Decompression Therapy is an alternative FDA approved treatment option that has provided significant relief in more than 80% of the research cases. Treatments are generally 15 to 30 minutes per session, 2 to 3 times per week with perceived results within 6 to 12 sessions.
